After all the modifications to the Water Pump have been made and as many ancillary items on teh firewall have been fitted there is no reason not to commit to hanging the engine using the appropriate rubber bushes , cup washers, steel ferrules and engine bolts.
I decided to powder coat the large mild steel cup washers as they may be prone to light corrosion which wouldn’t match too well with all the white painted ironmongery close by
A premade lifting bracket was secured to the engine top and this used as the lifting point to position the engine in front of the firewall in preparation for alignment with the securing points. With the aft part of the frame in an approx position i managed to lower the engine with the crane and then used 3 large Pozi screwdrivers and pushed them through the mounting points on the frame for which the cup washers and rubbers were already assembled. This method aligned the frame to allow the first of one of the upper mounting bolts to be installed. The mounting bolts appear very short and there is very little thread on the back side of the firewall to catch the nylon nut. The rubber mounts require slight compression to allow enough bolt thread to show and the nut to be applied. Once all 4 bolts are in position a with a nut in place, each was tightened sequentially until the bolt head and the nyloc nut were hard up against the ferrule that is inside the rubber bush. Then each bolt was torqued to 20N/M.
